About UGC NET Examination

The University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is a national level examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The examination determines eligibility for the post of Assistant Professor and the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

UGC NET assesses a candidate’s teaching aptitude, research ability and subject-specific knowledge required for higher education and research.

UGC NET Exam Pattern

The UGC NET examination is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. It consists of two papers conducted in a single session without any break.

  • Paper 1: Teaching & Research Aptitude
  • Paper 2: Subject-specific knowledge

UGC NET Marking Scheme

No negative marking. Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
